Charities
Clearer records for the work that matters.
Practical accounting support for charities and not-for-profit organisations managing resources with care.
A personal approach to your finances.
Charities need financial records that explain where funds came from, how they were used and what remains available for future activity. Grant conditions, donations, fundraising and everyday running costs can make that information difficult to bring together.
Taxwell helps organisations build a clearer accounting routine and prepare information for their trustees and advisers. We discuss your legal structure, activities and reporting requirements before agreeing the work to be undertaken.
How Taxwell can help
Fund and transaction records
Organise donation, grant and expenditure records with the relevant fund or activity information. Clear coding and reconciliations can help distinguish resources available for general use from amounts tied to a specific purpose.
Year-end preparation
Bring together the records needed for your organisation’s accounts and reporting process. We agree the preparation work, responsibilities and any information to be provided to a separate examiner or auditor.
Budgets and trustee information
Prepare practical financial summaries to support discussions about available funds, planned activities and ongoing commitments. Reporting should help trustees ask informed questions about the organisation’s finances.
Connect the budget to the organisation’s plans.
A funding award does not always match the timing of expenditure. Reviewing expected receipts, project spending and core costs together helps show when cash may be needed and which resources can be used. We can help organise that information into a regular reporting approach that is proportionate to the organisation.
What to bring to our first conversation
- Your governing structure and a summary of activities
- Grant agreements, donation records and fund restrictions
- Bank statements, expense records and payroll information
- Previous accounts, budgets and existing reporting arrangements
Working with Taxwell
- Start with a conversation. Tell us how you work, what is already in place and where you need support.
- Agree the services and fee. We confirm the work, responsibilities and information required before the engagement begins.
- Build a practical routine. We agree how records will be shared, raise questions and review your needs as the business changes.
Before we get started
Does accounts preparation include an independent examination or audit?
No. These are separate engagements with their own eligibility and reporting requirements. We clarify your needs and the appropriate specialist arrangements; they are not included automatically in an accounts-preparation package.
Can you help us report on different grants or projects?
We can discuss a bookkeeping structure and reports that separate relevant funding and expenditure. The information available depends on how transactions are recorded and the conditions attached to each award.
How do I get a quote?
Use our quote-request page or arrange a conversation with Taxwell. Tell us about your activities, the records you keep and the services you need. We review the requirements and agree the scope and fee with you.
